The Fit India movement, an initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2019, has gained significant momentum across the nation. The movement, aimed at incorporating fitness into the daily routines of Indian citizens, has reached over seven lakh individuals across more than 40,000 locations nationwide.

On August 31, 2021, BJP MP Poonamben Maadam participated in a cycle rally in Jamnagar, Gujarat, as part of the Special National Sports Day edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle. The event was organised under the guidance of the Jamnagar JMC and the District administrative team.

The cycle rally was a culmination of two days of events in Jamnagar, with Poonamben Maadam emphasising the importance of fitness and reducing pollution by walking or cycling instead of relying on vehicles. The rally aimed to promote fitness and encourage cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

Poonamben Maadam also highlighted the movement's goal of encouraging indigenous sports. She attributed the march to promoting physical fitness and health awareness.

The Fit India movement also aims to conduct events that promote fitness in a fun, free, and easy manner. It aspires to spread the message of fitness to every school, college, and university. In line with this, Mansukh Mandavia, a fellow MP, instructed all MPs and district clusters to organise a cyclothon.

National Sports Day is celebrated annually on August 29 to emphasise the importance of sports and physical activities. The Fit India movement aligns perfectly with this day's objectives, encouraging citizens to embrace a healthier lifestyle and promote sports and fitness nationwide.
